Assignment mechanisms for the “fair” allocation of resources
A pool of resources has to be allocated among competing users. How do you allocate them in a way which is perceived to be “fair”?
The scope of this research project is to develop mechanisms for the allocation of resources among competing users. In addition to develop mathematical models and algorithms, research will be devoted to exploring a number of fundamental questions related to mechanisms’ design. These mechanisms will be tested in specific application domains, e.g., healthcare management and transportation.
The research project is mostly quantitative and is based on the use of optimization techniques.
Applicants for this research project need to have good qualifications in mathematics or a related discipline, and have experience with computer programming.
