Before coming to Lancaster, I studied A-Levels at Easingwold Secondary School in York.
I was attracted by the great reputation of Lancaster University Management School and the diverse variety of modules that are available, meaning you can tailor your course so it is exactly right for you.
One of the highlights of my BSc Marketing Management degree was my placement year, which I spent working as a Marketing Co-ordinator at 3M. This proved to be an invaluable experience, which I would recommend to everybody.
I had an amazing year, which involved coordinating major exhibitions, developing nationwide promotions and organising new product launches. You really do learn so much ‘on the job’ that you return to your final year feeling confident and assured that you have a much better grasp of how marketing works in the ‘real world’.
However, one of the best reasons to study at Lancaster is simply the people! All of the lecturers, staff and students are fantastic and really make you feel as though you are part of the marketing community.
There really is something for everybody at Lancaster. During my time, not only have I acted as a marketing course representative and written for the University newspaper SCAN, but I have also taken part in so many exciting societies, from hockey to hiking, from canoeing to Gospel Choir! Plus there is such a fun, friendly atmosphere at the college sport competitions that you can’t help but want to get involved! I’ve represented my college in basketball, volleyball, squash and korfball, which is something I never thought I’d get the chance to do.
Immediatly after I graduated, I started working as a marketing assistant for Denholm Pipecare in Chesterfield, a company which provides support services to the oil, gas and petrochemical industries around the world. I then decided to work as a freelance marketer, and am currently involved in marketing various flagship brands in the construction industry, including Portakabin.
