IMPM alumnus awarded North-South Prize

An IMPM alumnus has been awarded the 2017 North-South Prize of the Council of Europe for his dedication to promoting humanitarian work and fostering human solidarity.

Dr Abbas Gullet, Vice President of the Federation of the Red Cross and Secretary General of the Kenya Red Cross Society, has been presented with the prestigious award.

Previous winners of the prize have included the former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, Simone Veil, and His Highness Prince Aga Khan.

Dr Gullet graduated from Cycle 1 of the IMPM and continues to be actively involved in the IMPM through the Kenya Red Cross.

Programme director Dr Martin Brigham said: “Anyone who has met Abbas will know the sheer dedication, unending energy and up-close humanity he brings to his work at the Red Cross.

“Congratulations to Abbas from all at IMPM on this very significant international recognition.”
