LUMS team reaches finals of Universities Business Challenge

The LUMS team

13 March 2015

A team of LUMS undergraduates has qualified for the national finals of the Universities Business Challenge Worldwide. The team, captained by Rory Peyton Jones, came second at the regional semi-finals.

The UBC is the world’s longest established simulation-based competitive challenge for undergraduates and is designed to develop employability and enterprise skills. Supported by the UK's leading universities and graduate employers, more than 20,000 students have benefitted from participating in the UBC Worldwide over the past 15 years.

This year over 350 teams from 75 UK universities took part in the competition which requires students to demonstrate a mix of finance, strategy and marketing skills. These teams have now been whittled down to ten finalists.

Louise Briggs, Head of Careers, Alumni and Employer Relations in LUMS believes that “it is a great result for the team and a reward for the time and effort they have committed to the competition. Since last term, the team had to submit weekly detailed, complex, financial reports as part of a business simulation exercise in order to qualify for the semi-finals. We now look forward to the final.”

The team members are: Rory Peyton Jones (BBA Management), Cai Pencheng (BSc Business Studies), Adele Guneviciute (BSc Marketing), Joshua Donnelly (BSc Business Studies), Tyler Tsai (BSc Marketing). The team’s participation in the competition was supported by LUMS Careers, the Department of Accounting and Finance and the LUMS Undergraduate Office.
