About the Quadrangular
The Quadrangular Conference on Technology, Organisations and Society is organised jointly by Lancaster University, the University of Cambridge, University College Dublin and the London School of Economics and Political Science.
This year’s Quadrangular Conference will be hosted by the Department of Organisation, Work and Technology at Lancaster University Management School, 14-15 September 2015.
Building on the previous years’ success, the event provides an exceptional opportunity for PhD students to get in-depth feedback on their work from senior faculty members outside their own institution. The conference draws together a number of distinguished scholars to help novice academics at different stages of their research projects to conduct successful research and develop contributions for the disciplines of organisation studies.
The theme of the Conference for this year is Organisational Practices within Contemporary Landscapes. Focus will concentrate on organisational settings as complex entangled networks, and how these manifest in various contemporary landscapes. This encompasses not only private and public sectors but also encapsulates organisational practices at a societal level. In this domain, intercultural perspectives on organisational dynamics are particularly relevant to discussion, as well as reflections on how the very concepts of knowledge generation and learning processes evolve as a result of the new globalising landscape.
Possible topics for contributions include, but are not limited to:
- Sociological approaches to the construction of self in organisational practices
- Intercultural perspectives on spaces and places of identity in organisational settings
- Entanglement of learning and knowledge generation in organisations
- Work and employment in contemporary organisations
- Interdisciplinary studies of management, information systems and organisations
- Materiality and organisations: sociotechnical arrangements and practices
The Quadrangular team is delighted to announce the participation of Professor David Knight and Professor Gibson Burrell. Both distinguished scholars have vastly contributed to the theoretical underpinning of contemporary Organisational Studies.
