Discover the best elements of our BBA course, including the opportunity to choose from a range of modules in order to tailor your studies to your interests. Our students share their experiences of their management consultancy module, where they benefit from the opportunity to develop critical business skills by creating innovative solutions to real business issues. They also highlight the careers and employability support and how it has helped them to pursue their chosen career pathways.
Our degrees are designed to help you switch the focus of your studies as your interests develop. We understand that committing yourself to a particular degree when you haven't studied it before is a big decision, so your first year, known as Part I, doesn't count towards your final degree. At the end of this year, you will have experienced different subjects which will help you to make a clearer decision about what you want to study for the rest of your degree, known as Part II.
Studying one of our business and management courses with an integrated work placement will immerse you in the realities of business life.
An industrial placement allows you to develop practical skills through taking on real responsibility, whilst also being paid. There are opportunities to be located in organisations throughout the UK and a small number of placements within Europe as well. Through our placements office we ensure that you find a placement that really suits you, and where you will flourish and develop professionally at a fast rate. Many students tell us that they have done things on their placement that they never dreamt they would be capable of.
There are lots of advantages to completing a placement, and the experience will give your employment prospects a huge boost. It will also help you decide on your career direction and the kind of organisation in which you want to work in future.
If you are accepted on the BBA (Study Abroad) (N201) degree, you will spend your second year at a leading university in the USA, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia or New Zealand. In recent years these have included: Boston College, Berkeley (California), Texas A&M, Richmond, Wisconsin, McGill (Montreal), Monash (Australia), La Trobe (Australia), York (Toronto), Colorado, NUS (Singapore), Hong Kong City, University of British Columbia (Canada) and many more.
Your courses will count towards your Lancaster degree, and they will be similar in content to those you would have taken if you had stayed at Lancaster, with the benefit of enjoying an international experience. When you have completed your exchange year at a university abroad, you rejoin the standard BBA programme, and spend your third year on work placement.
Once you are accepted onto the BBA programme, there may be the opportunity to transfer onto the Study Abroad degree, subject to progress in your first year and the availability of exchange places.
Preparing you for the jobs market is central to everything we do, so you'll begin to explore your career options right from the start of your studies.
From the start of your studies, you'll begin building the key skills you'll need to succeed and we'll help you to identify potential career options which might suit you best, along with a clear strategy to help you get there. Depending on which course you choose, you will have the opportunity to develop practical experience and take on genuine responsibility through an industry placement in the UK or Europe.
Also, if you choose a study abroad variant on some of our courses such as the BBA and the International Business Management (BBA) you will develop valuable international experience, cultural awareness and language skills which will give you a competitive edge in the international business environment.
