Profile

Peter is a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and of the Higher Education Academy. He started his professional career as an industrial rehabilitation psychologist working for the UK Government Employment Service. He then became a university careers adviser working at the Universities of Westminster, Bradford and Huddersfield, pioneering new approaches to career and personal development in Higher Education. He was a Senior Lecturer in Employability & Entrepreneurship at the University of Central Lancashire prior to joining the Careers, Alumni & Employer Relations team at LUMS in 2014. During that period he worked on development of the CareerEDGE model of graduate Employability which has been widely used in Higher Education in the UK, Europe and elsewhere in the world.

He has a wide experience of working not only with students and graduates in Higher Education, but also with executives, lawyers, managers, entrepreneurs and creative professionals in business and the public sector.

In 2009 he was appointed as a ‘Tutor for Entrepreneurship and Career Development’ at Xiamen University of Technology, in recognition of his achievements in employability and entrepreneurship education. In January 2014 he was appointed Honorary Adviser of the University Counsellor’s Studio (Students’ Career Counselling) at Shanghai University of International Business & Economics.

Professional Role

Peter has responsibility for:

  • Providing individual mentoring and careers coaching to postgraduate Management School Students
  • Building relationships with graduate employers in the UK and abroad
  • Raising Awareness of Graduate Employability Issues amongst the student body and with academic staff
  • Designing and delivering a wide range of employability and careers provision across the School
