Successful applicants are normally invited to interview within two weeks. Applicants based in the UK will be interviewed here in Lancaster, and if you're overseas your interview will be via phone, Skype or face-to-face if we're in your local area. If you are applying for scholarships, you will need to prepare and upload your presentation at least 24 hours before your interview.
Click Step 3 for details on receiving and accepting your offer.
After your interview, we'll normally contact you within 48 hours with our decision. You'll need to respond within two weeks of receiving your formal offer, along with your £2000 deposit payment to secure your place.
The tuition fees for the Full-time MBA 2018 entry are available on the Apply for Masters page, and they are payable at the start of the academic year. To help you finance your MBA, it's possible to spread your fee payments over two instalments in October and January, and we also offer several scholarships and additional funding support.
The programme fees cover all tuition, registration, examination costs and graduation. The deposit you pay when you accept a place on the programme is deducted from the payment due when you start.
You will need to budget extra for your accommodation, meals and personal spending. As a campus university, you'll find all of your main facilities and resources are within a 10-15 minute walk which makes Lancaster substantially cheaper to live in than most UK city universities.
We strive to ensure that all students have the opportunity to undertake the Corporate Challenge in London, so we will assist you with the cost differences incurred whilst studying in London and help you secure suitable accommodation there. For other costs, we recommend budgeting for approximately £9,000 in addition to the MBA programme fees. If you are going to be bringing a partner and/or children with you, the costs will be higher - we recommend allowing a further £4,500 for your partner and £3,000 per child.
The scholarships available to candidates are substantial, and are awarded on a competitive basis. Our awards are from £5,000 and can be up to £15,000 in exceptional cases. Our award decision is based on your potential, skill level, experience, education and background. To maximise your chances, it's best to apply early and pay your deposit promptly.
The cohort at Lancaster is deliberately kept small to enable the rich learning process we provide. In a small cohort diversity in all dimensions is paramount – we target a balanced mix of student backgrounds to enhance the learning process.
How to Apply
You will need to prepare a five-slide PowerPoint presentation covering evidence of your leadership qualities, the personal attributes that set you apart from other applicants and how your qualities will contribute to the Lancaster MBA. We would also like to know how you feel the Lancaster MBA will help you grow as a leader, and will contribute to the achievement of your career aspirations. You can also include further details to support your scholarship application in the notes section.
Once complete, upload your presentation to the application site as part of your application at least 24 hours before your interview is scheduled to take place.
If you're a Lancaster graduate, you are eligible for an additional Alumni Loyalty Scholarship of up to 20% of the programme fees. This normally equates to 10% for undergraduates who graduated with a 2:1, 20% for those who graduated with a 1st, and 10% for those who graduated with a Masters degree. If you have achieved both your undergraduate and Masters degrees at Lancaster, you will receive a scholarship of 20%.
There are a number of funding sources that can help you finance your MBA studies.
Postgraduate Loan Scheme
The UK Government provides a postgraduate loan scheme for students undertaking Masters courses. Non means-tested loans of up to £10,000 are made available to students applying to taught and research Masters courses*. For more information, go to the main Lancaster University page.
Professional and career development loans
You can apply for a Career Development Loan if you live or intend to train in the UK and plan to use that training for work in the UK or elsewhere in the EU or European Economic Area (EEA).
In practice, if you require a work permit in order to work in the UK or EU after graduation, you are very unlikely to qualify for a Career Development Loan.
The Career Development Loan Scheme is run in partnership with the UK Department of Education and Employment and is available from the following banks:
For further information about the scheme, see the UK government's web pages on career development loans.
