SAS, the world leader in business intelligence software, supports the Masters programmes in the department of Management Science and sponsors two student prizes.
Graduates with good modelling and analytical skills who can help organisations transform large amount of data and information into useful business intelligence and knowledge are highly prized by employers.
Students on all three Management Science Masters programmes have the opportunity to learn about data organisation, data cleaning and arrangement and modelling by fully utilising the analytical tools of SAS and SAS enterprise miner. SAS is used on the SAS Programming for Business Analytics module.
Each year there is a SAS prize awarded to the student/s who not only performs well in the SAS Programming for Business Analytics module but who uses SAS extensively and effectively in their project. Previous winners of this prize include Melpomeni Gkofa who extensively applied SAS analytical tools for data fusion and modelling whilst working on her dissertation for Barclaycard. She now works for the same company.
