Senior Recruitment Executive, Computer People/Adecco Group
Before studying for the MSc in Human Resource and Knowledge Management at LUMS, I was an undergraduate student on the Euro BBA programme at Lancaster. As part of this four-year degree I studied for two years in Italy and then two years in the UK. I also undertook three internships whilst studying in three different countries (Italy, Ireland and the UK).
Thanks to this work experience, I decided to develop my career in human resources. Aware that I needed a more solid theoretical background I chose to deepen my understanding of this area through a Masters programme in HR.
The decision to continue my studies at Lancaster came for several reasons: firstly, I looked at the ranking of LUMS and at its international reputation. Secondly, I considered the quality of student life: the campus experience at Lancaster University was absolutely a plus, with great facilities and the endless opportunities to meet new people from all over the world. Thirdly, this institution is very committed to recognising and supporting academic talent, offering a large number of scholarships. This was very important and of great help with my fees and living costs.
I really enjoyed the one-year MSc programme at LUMS, mainly because of its teaching approach. It was very challenging as I was unfamiliar with independent study, yet as I became used to this approach, I found it increasingly rewarding. The lecturers gave us guidance and insight, but then everyone was free to decide where to focus on for his/her research. The content of the lectures was always interesting and inspiring, because all the academic staff are experts in their respective fields. And they were always willing to help, giving us prompt feedback about our work.
My experience at Lancaster was brilliant. I made a lot of new friends from all over the world, gaining direct insights into new cultures and ways of thinking. The atmosphere on campus was full of stimuli to grow and to learn more. I particularly enjoyed working as a student ambassador for LUMS. It was a great opportunity to meet and interact with new people and make new friends, especially at Postgraduate Open Days and Visit Days. I will be eternally grateful to LUMS for unlocking my potential and for helping me to achieve my goals.
I am currently working in Ireland as a Senior Recruitment Executive for Computer People/Adecco Group, the world leader in human resource solutions. I specialise in the recruitment of IT professionals (technical and non-technical) for many clients, including management consultancies, capital market consultancies, technical security houses, market research firms, and other firms in the banking and non-banking sectors. My role entails attracting candidates and matching them to temporary or permanent positions with client companies. I work closely with client companies, building relationships in order to gain a better understanding of their recruitment needs and requirements. Everything I learnt at LUMS is valuable help in this new adventure.
