The main reasons I chose this course is for my future career aspirations and the opportunity to participate in the Double Degree Programme. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of being a part of a very international community and well-educated Professors. My plans after graduation involve going back to Hamburg and entering the management consultancy industry.
Studying at LUMS has helped enhance my career prospects significantly, given its strong reputation especially across subjects that have a business focus. I liked how the programme provides flexibility in terms of choosing a specific career path, which made it the best choice for me! Along with an effective academic journey, I have had a pleasant social life in LUMS throughout my experience.
I believe LUMS is a truly ideal intellectual environment because it is generating exciting interdisciplinary and transnational investigations, which became an invaluable source of information for my Master’s research. I enjoyed working in groups with students of different nationalities because they enabled me to learn various ways of thinking. After graduation, I would like to pursue a career in international business by working in management consultancy.
Ayla Johanne Lillevik
I chose to study at LUMS because of its great reputation, the programme structure and a fantastic Careers Team. Because of my background in social sciences, my potential options were limited, but fortunately MSc Management is open to anyone. What I most enjoyed about the programme was the international environment. After graduation, I got a six-month internship with an embassy in East Africa.
I received many positive recommendations about LUMS which reassured my choice of this university. The students studying the programme are diversified and inclusive, which gave me a chance to acquire business knowledge in a welcoming learning environment. MSc Management has several practical experiences, and it was fantastic because in China I rarely encountered such a highly co-operative group working on real-life projects.
LUMS was the perfect choice for me because it offered not only a high-quality learning environment but also a truly international experience. I enjoyed the interactive nature of the course and the range of teamwork projects that helped me to engage with the programme material. My time at LUMS also helped me to gain invaluable collaborative skills which now greatly support my work as a project manager in the field of European public affairs with a Belgian management consultancy firm.
I elected to study at LUMS because it has many industry connections, enabling students to gain hands-on experience. I most enjoyed the group work on the programme because it encouraged us to work with people from different countries and cultures, although I am most proud of single-handedly organising a small event on campus to raise money for charity.
From South Korea
I decided to study at LUMS because of its good reputation and the range of scholarships on offer. There was a lot of work, especially for my dissertation, but I really enjoyed the programme as a whole. I am now working in the real estate and concrete manufacturing industry in South Korea.
The international diversity of the student population at LUMS greatly influenced my decision to come to Lancaster. The opportunity to work with such a wide range of people was one I could not pass up, and I enjoyed the group work because of this. I am currently working as an executive assistant to chartered accountants and chartered financial officers in Bangkok.
While LUMS' rankings and international reputation initially caught my eye, being able to talk to members of staff on one of the virtual open days was what convinced me to study at LUMS. I appreciated the wide range of subjects available to study on my programme and the vast opportunities to take part in additional events and experiences, from meeting employers to learning new languages. I am currently undertaking a management development programme with Mars Deutschland.
The MSc Management at LUMS has an unrivalled reputation in my home country of India for being diverse yet thorough and enjoyable. I was amazed by the case studies as they gave me a tremendous amount of insight, and the lecturers were very experienced and knowledgeable. While studying I also became the Vice President of the Postgraduate Student Association, gaining valuable experience in the management of an institution and learning how the student body functions. I am now a relationship manager for Edusys Global Services Pvt. Ltd. in Bangalore.
From the United Kingdom
I was an undergraduate student at Lancaster and already knew LUMS lived up to its reputation. I especially enjoyed the range of modules on offer on the MSc Management programme, which allowed me to study what I found most interesting and useful. I am currently working for another UK university as a widening participation access officer.
A key reason for why I really enjoyed this programme was because of the course setting. You have the ability to choose specific modules, for instance: Marketing, Project Management etc., based on your interests and future career objectives. Overall, Lancaster provided me with the opportunity to meet and network with a variety of people from different backgrounds. After graduation, I plan to return to China.
I chose to pursue the MSc Management programme because I wanted to gain hands-on experience with company-based consultancy projects and to specialise in Strategic Management, a topic I am very enthusiastic about. The programme is very taxing indeed, yet extremely rewarding in terms of personal growth. I have secured a graduate job in the Consumer Goods industry with AB InBev, the leading global brewer, on their Global Management Trainee programme.
