I am a vibrant, strategic HR practitioner, with experience in linking strategy, people and performance. A top of the range HR generalist with a unique depth in employee performance management and talent management, I have a strong passion and competence for human resource effectiveness and have handled human capital management functions, business process improvement, and corporate performance management at general management level throughout my career.

In a career of over 17 years, I have been a change agent for remodelling the human resource function and business processes in various organisations in the oil and gas, banking and telecommunications sectors in Nigeria. I presently function as Senior Manager and Head of Learning and Development at MTN Nigeria Communications Limited, a market leader in the African telecommunications market.

As a recipient of a prestigious Chevening scholarship award, administered by the British Council, I elected to come to the UK for the Lancaster MBA to add breadth to my depth as a functional expert. In particular I chose the Lancaster MBA because of the action learning dimension which no other business school of its ranking in the UK could offer.

I wanted a mature MBA, one that afforded me the opportunity to learn and apply simultaneously. On the Lancaster MBA, I got more than I anticipated. I engaged with three exciting consultancy projects during the year. The first with Cancer Care – the UK’s largest social enterprise in its area of specialisation; the second with the Royal Bank of Scotland – one of the UK’s leading financial institutions; and the third with Allianz Group SE – a global financial services company operating in 70 countries.

The experience and exposure of the Lancaster MBA is second to none in so many ways. The blend of the wealth of knowledge from top-quality faculty, a curriculum covering all aspects of global business, a battery of consultancy and business tools, and several projects delivered in multicultural teams: all prepare me for the next level of my career.

After the MBA, I returned to my organisation in MTN Nigeria to play a more strategic role in general management. In the long term, I see myself managing an enterprise as CEO with a profit and loss responsibility, and driving transformational change in a leadership capacity at national level within the social development context in Nigeria.
