Full-time MBA scholarships

The Lancaster MBA attracts students who will be the leaders of the future. To facilitate this we are offering several types of scholarship.

All scholarships are substantial and merit-based.

Applicants are allowed to apply for the Director's Scholarship, the Open Scholarship and the High Potential Scholarship, although we will only award one of these scholarships per applicant.  The Lancaster MBA recruitment team may award a Regional Scholarship in addition to other scholarships.

Graduates of Lancaster University are eligible for an Alumni Loyalty Scholarship worth 10% if you achieved a 2:1 degree or 20% for a first class degree, these awards will be deducted from the programme fees when you register.  You are also entitled to apply for one of the scholarship listed below.

The Lancaster MBA High Potential Scholarship

The High Potential Scholarship is awarded to those candidates who can demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities in their career and personal life to date. The minimum award will be £6,500, and for excellent candidates it can be up to 50% of the tuition fees.  In exceptional circumstances a higher scholarship amount may be awarded.

To apply for this scholarship you have to prepare a three-slide PowerPoint presentation as part of your application and upload this to the application site.  This will then be discussed at your interview.

Your presentation must cover three areas:

  • evidence that demonstrates your exceptional leadership qualities and how this will contribute to the Lancaster MBA
  • a clear description of what you see as your strengths and weaknesses.
  • a description of how the Lancaster MBA will help you to grow as a leader

The slides do not have to stand alone, there can be some further detail in the notes below.  Slides should be uploaded to your application account at least 24 hours before your interview is scheduled to take place.

The Lancaster MBA Director's Scholarship

The Director's Scholarship is for candidates from the UK and Europe only. The minimum amount for this award will be £6,750.  For excellent candidates a higher amount may be awarded.  To be considered for this award you will need to create a three-slide presentation, responding to the following question:

'Picture the moments when you have been at your most successful. What made you successful?'

The slides do not have to stand alone, there can be some further detail in the notes below.  Slides should be uploaded to your application account at least 24 hours before your interview is scheduled to take place.

The Lancaster MBA Regional Scholarship

All candidates who are offered a place will be automatically considered for a Regional Scholarship – you do not have to write a separate application for this. This award will be based on your performance during the interview. The minimum amount for this scholarship is £3,000, though it may be higher for excellent candidates.

You will need to demonstrate:

  • a clear and specific understanding of how the Lancaster MBA will contribute to you achieving your career aspirations
  • a description of the personal attributes that will set you apart from other applicants

Regional Scholarships are offered on a rolling basis until all awards have been exhausted, so you should apply as early as possible.

The Lancaster MBA Open Scholarship

The Open Scholarship is awarded on demonstration of your need for financial assistance to help cover the costs of the Lancaster MBA. The minimum amount awarded is £3,000, though it may be higher for excellent candidates.  To apply for this scholarship you have to prepare a two-slide PowerPoint presentation as part of your application.

The slides do not have to stand alone, there can be some further detail in the notes below.  Slides should be uploaded to your application account at least 24 hours before your interview is scheduled to take place.

The presentation will cover two points:

  • the reasons that you need financial assistance
  • a clear description of how the Lancaster MBA will build on your strengths and add to your skills and knowledge base in order to help you achieve your ambitions

Scholarship decisions will be made at the point of offer following decision.
