Full-time MBA scholarships

The Lancaster MBA attracts students who will be the leaders of the future. To facilitate this we are offering six types of scholarship for 2014 entry to the Full-time MBA.

All scholarships are merit-based and substantial. This year we have a number of half- and full scholarships available for high-potential applicants.

Applicants are allowed to apply for the Director's Scholarship, the Open Scholarship and the High Potential Scholarship, although we will only award one of these scholarships per applicant. At the discretion of the Lancaster MBA recruitment team, we may award a Regional Scholarship in addition to other scholarships to an individual applicant.

Alumni of Lancaster University will automatically receive a scholarship worth 10% of the programme fees.

The Lancaster MBA High Potential Scholarship

The High Potential Scholarship is awarded to those candidates who can demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities from their career and personal life to date. There are five High Potential Scholarships available. The minimum grant for this scholarship will be £6,500 and the maximum will be £26,000.

To apply for this scholarship you have to prepare a three-slide PowerPoint presentation as part of your application and upload this to the application site. This will then be discussed at your interview.

The presentation will cover three points:

  • evidence which demonstrates your exceptional leadership qualities and what this means for your contribution to the Lancaster MBA
  • a clear description of your strengths and weaknesses, based on the evidence presented above
  • a description of how the Lancaster MBA will help you to grow as a leader

The slides should stand alone, with some description in the notes pages. Slides should be uploaded with the application form.

The Lancaster MBA Director's Scholarship

The Director's Scholarship is for applicants from the UK and Europe only. The minimum grant for this scholarship will be £5,000. To be considered for this award you will need to create a three-slide presentation, answering the following question:

'Picture the moments when you have been at your most successful. What guiding principles of leadership or management can you derive from these moments of success?'

Your slides should stand alone, with some description in the notes pages.

In your answer you should clearly show why these principles are important to you, and include some relevant academic literature to help you reflect on your moments of success. Slides should be uploaded with your application form.

The Lancaster MBA Scholarship for Women

All female applicants are eligible to apply for this scholarship. The minimum grant will be £3,000. To be considered for this award you will need to create a three-slide presentation, giving your thoughts on:

‘the challenges faced by modern organisations and the unique contribution women leaders can make in helping us meet them’

The slides should stand alone, with some description in the notes pages. Slides should be uploaded with the application form.

The Lancaster MBA Regional Scholarship

All applicants who are offered a place will be automatically considered for a Regional Scholarship – you do not have to write a separate application for this. This award will be based on your performance during the interview. The minimum grant for this scholarship is £3,000.

You will need to demonstrate:

  • a clear and specific understanding of how the Lancaster MBA will contribute to you achieving your career aspirations
  • a description of your unique attributes that will set you apart from other applicants

Regional Scholarships are offered on a rolling basis until all awards have been exhausted, so you should apply as early as possible.

The Lancaster MBA Open Scholarship

The Open Scholarship is awarded on demonstration of your need for financial aid to help with the costs of the Lancaster MBA. To apply for this scholarship you have to prepare a two-slide PowerPoint presentation as part of your application and upload this to the application site. This will then be discussed at your interview.

The presentation will cover two points:

  • your reason for needing financial support
  • a clear description of how the Lancaster MBA will build on your strengths and add to your skills and knowledge base in order to help you achieve your ambitions

The slides should stand alone, with some description in the notes pages. Slides should be uploaded with the application form.

Scholarship offers will be made at the time of offer of a place and are valid for a period of three weeks. Retrospective scholarship offers are not possible.
