Three stimulating locations for learning

Most of the programme is based on our wonderful campus in Lancaster, but we also make the most of our access to exciting and inspirational locations around the world that will enhance your learning experience.

Wherever you are, you'll also be mixing with professional managers from many different nations, learning as much from each other as you do from our internationally renowned faculty.

Lancaster

From October to June you are based mainly on our beautiful parkland campus in the North West of the UK. This environment is perfect for focusing on developing your knowledge, and growing your ability to think critically. The campus has everything you're likely to require, from a bookshop to coffee shops, supermarkets and banks.

We utilise the outdoor natural environment in Lancaster and the nearby Lake District National Park to help you reflect on and learn from your experience, thus improving your practice as a mindful manager and leader. We regard the Lancaster environment is an essential ingredient in the accelerated growth and personal development we witness in our MBA students.

London

At key points throughout your MBA year we take you to London to connect you to the world’s most dynamic centre of finance and commerce.

Between October and June we make short visits to London, ranging from two days to a full week, and accommodation and travel costs for this are included as part of your fees. Then from July to September you move your student accommodation to be based in London full-time - placing you at the heart of the UK's largest centre of employment at the very time when you'll be most active in finding your next job.

Our base in London is the Work Foundation, a wholly owned part of Lancaster University. Using this excellent city-centre location has three great advantages:

  • It connects you to alumni and recruiter networks that will give you opportunities to develop your career

  • It enhances the accounting and finance modules by drawing on the knowledge of city institutions and finance professionals

  • It facilitates access to multinational companies for the Corporate Challenge

London is an exciting, dynamic world city, and is a fantastic place to put into practice all you will learn at Lancaster.

Overseas

During your second term at Lancaster we provide you with an overseas study tour – the International Business in Context module – that will build your capacity to operate internationally in business. Previous tours have taken MBAs to Singapore, Malaysia, India, China, South Africa, Turkey and the Czech Republic.

Through a combination of cultural experiences, company visits, and talks from local faculty, you will become mindful of the cultural and business contexts of your destination. The chief purpose is to provide you with the skills to absorb and learn from both the culture and the business environment of any country.

At the same time, you will begin to understand some of the specific challenges for business and management in different economies. These include the problems and opportunities of international trade, and the issues that arise when manging multinational enterprises in a local context. The tour gives you the chance to examine approaches to management in different cultural contexts, and to gain a deeper appreciation of the various ethical and social responsibility issues that can arise in different parts of the world.

Flights, visits, talks, cultural activities, accommodation (two students per room), and some meals for this study tour are all included in your MBA programme fees.
