Module leader: Dr Peter Lenney
Duration and timing: throughout all three terms
In the Mindful Manager module we are concerned with your development as a high performance business manager. The module is designed and deployed as the central element of your learning throughout the MBA programme.
Today’s business world is volatile, uncertain, ambiguous and complex; and is suffused with diverse stakeholders with competing agendas. Instead of shrinking away from this complexity, we encourage you to embrace the challenges and opportunities it offers. We strive to ensure you learn to deal with the business world as it is.
Through The Mindful Manager – a module that is unique to The Lancaster MBA - we focus on building the "attitudes of mind" that you will require if you are to be highly effective at the most senior levels. We drive the development of your practical wisdom, your capacity to exercise quality judgement, your ability to deal with the real world of business and management.
As part of the Mindful Manager module on the Lancaster MBA, you will benefit from the knowledge and expertise of Kevin Roberts, former CEO of both Pepsi and Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide. Kevin’s involvement with the Lancaster MBA perfectly complements the programme’s development of your leadership style, and as one of the most experienced CEO’s in the world, his executive leadership coaching will add significant value to your learning, not to mention your overall Lancaster MBA experience. Kevin Roberts was born in Lancaster and he will visit campus on three occasions to work exclusively with the Lancaster MBA students very closely throughout the year, with students receiving around $150,000 of executive education included in the MBA fees. During your studies, you will also have the opportunity to enter a unique competition to win one of eight places on Kevin’s in-depth summer leadership sessions. These take place at his Lake District home over the summer, taking your learning to a completely new level.
Two open book examinations and four collaborative learning exercises (prepared and presented in teams)
