Having joined the MSc Double Degree in CATÓLICA-LISBON School of Business & Economics and Lancaster University Management School, taking the Master’s degree at Lancaster University was a great choice.
After finishing my Master’s degree in Portugal, I had high expectations of my experience at LUMS and the reality exceeded them. When I applied to Advanced Marketing Management MSc programme, I was looking for a university with international recognition in the fields of management and marketing and LUMS fitted this profile, being consistently at the top of the UK’s rankings and part of a small group of the top 1% of business schools to hold triple accreditation.
MSc in Advanced Marketing Management is a testament to the University’s great reputation for Marketing, proven by the recent award in this field.
The AMM is a programme very focused on the real problems of organisations, which turns out to be extremely valuable when leaving the University and entering the business world. Quite often, I found myself experiencing situations in the world of business that were recreated during the Master’s programme and the fact that I already have worked on them undoubtedly helped me to react in the best way in real life.
The proximity of Lancaster University to the business and corporate world is a great asset. The theory given in the AMM has a purpose that makes the programme unique: to help solve the problems that business executives face in reality. To achieve this, the programme is deliberately designed to have less formal lectures and more practical classes, where students’ know-how is tested and Professors and students help other students to develop both their hard and soft skills. As a matter of fact, much of the AMM is based on group projects that help students develop their critical thinking and analytical/creative skills.
I firmly believe that a big strength of this Master’s degree is the irreplaceable exchange of knowledge, experiences, insights and ideas with students from other countries and cultures, with different points of view and opinions. This richness and diversity helps students grow not only as students and professionals, but also as human beings – a great gift of the AMM. In addition to this, I met exceptional people with whom I made friendships that last longer than the programme itself. Besides creating a great environment, this diversity and collaborative approach truly helps students later in their business day-to-day lives.
The campus is great and has a wide range of activities that allows students to have a good time. At LUMS, academic and business success is a priority, so there is immense support for students to prepare to enter the business world, including events with companies CV reviews, and preparation to interviews, among other.
After finishing my MSc, I joined Microsoft in Portugal, under the MACH programme, to work as a Corporate Territory Account Manager. The MACH programme is Microsoft’s world-class graduate programme, focused on professional development and long-term career preparation. Being in a Sales role, my responsibilities currently involve, in brief, demonstrating how Microsoft technology can help solve operational problems and positively impact the customer’s business or organization. I am the primary account management contact for a portfolio of customers and I am accountable for developing and maintaining customer relationships with IT & Business Decision-makers, proving Microsoft’s commitment to helping customers improve their businesses.
All in all, I strongly recommend the MSc in AMM in LUMS to any student, as it will not only give you an excellent life experience and a Master’s degree, but also prepare you, meaningfully, for your future!
