Accounting & Tax Technology Services, KPMG

Growing up in a family that ran its own business, for me studying entrepreneurship was a logical and interesting choice. LUMS’s reputation as one of the UK's leading management schools was also important. A green-field site with a lively city close by also makes Lancaster a great place to study.

Due to the relatively small numbers of students on the Management and Entrepreneurship course, I built up great relationships with lecturers and staff, which definitely benefitted my work as well as making studying more enjoyable. I still pop-in to say hi to everyone even though I've now graduated.

However, apart from offering a unique insight into what it means to be an entrepreneur, the course combines management and group working activities – skills which are vital for your future and for securing a job. The skills and experiences that I acquired helped me get a job at a top financial services company in the City of London, where in three years’ time I should qualify as a chartered accountant. After that, well, I'll be looking for the right business opportunity!

Since writing this profile, Tom has gone on to work in the Accounting & Tax Technology Services department at KPMG.
