Materials Science at Lancaster
Lancaster University, and particularly the Faculty of Science and Technology, has an established record of capability and research success in aspects of Materials Science, although to date this has not been promoted as an integrated cross-University discipline.
We are developing Materials Science as an interdisciplinary focus, building on and integrating the expertise currently latent within the Departments of Chemistry, Engineering, Physics, Biomedical and Life Sciences and others in conjunction with the Cockcroft Institute, Graphene NOWNANO CDT, several Marie-Curie ITNs, and the cTAP programme (The Reaction Centre). It also integrates with additional areas of research excellence across Lancaster University including Design via ImaginationLancaster, Mathematics, Computer Science, Environmental Science, and the Faculty of Health and Medicine as appropriate.
