Academic Support

During your time at Lancaster you will be challenged academically, and we want you to achieve your full potential through effective study practices and good scientific writing.

Academic tutor

Natural Sciences students are appointed a dedicated academic tutor for each of their chosen pathways. These tutors will meet regularly with students to discuss their progression, as well as to support them with any discipline-related questions and concerns. Biochemistry and Microbiology pathways supply an academic tutor only to Natural Sciences students taking both of those pathways.

Departmental support

In addition to this, our students are invited to take advantage of the academic support provided by their chosen subjects. This could include academic advisors, one-to-one tutorials, student mentors, committees providing feedback from students to academic staff and more. Please refer to the information provided by individual departments to find out about the support on offer.

Student Learning Advisor

The Faculty of Science and Technology’s Student Learning Advisor, Dr Robert Blake, offers free consultations to help you improve your scientific writing and help your coursework to achieve its full potential. Find out more.
