Overview

This workshop is for those who are interested in progressing to a management or supervisory role in the short term and want to understand the role expectations and staff who are new to staff management and have not had any previous management development.

It is intended that staff who have formal line management responsibilities will progress to the MANAGER@Lancaster programme.

It looks at the role and expectations of the manager, exploring the psychological contract from different perspectives (i.e. senior management, team members, previous peers).

At the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Setting and communicating clear expectations and objectives
  • Planning and prioritising – self and others
  • Influencing and motivating
  • Interpersonal skills – listening, questioning, difficult conversations
