‘Nexus’ issues and business

The world is facing interrelated threats from complex social-ecological and economic systems spanning the food, energy, water "nexus".

The role of companies within these issues has been significantly under-researched.  This research theme considers how companies are both the drivers of negative environmental "nexus" impacts, and the drivers of potential solutions.

The Pentland Centre is also acting as a Lancaster-based Nexus research hub, coordinating a discussion group across Lancaster University and engaging with leading initiatives within the UK-based Nexus Network.

Energy Water Climate Change Nexus Workshop May 2017 - Call for Participants

Dr. Lingxuan Liu has been awarded a grant from the British Council to hold a workshop at Nanjing University, China, to explore the energy-water-climate change nexus from different research areas.  The workshop will take place week commencing 22nd May 2017, and bring together approximately thirty early-stage researchers who are interested in the energy-water-climate change nexus (EWCN) among different research areas. It will offer a platform for those researchers to exchange research ideas and methods extensively, thus discover further collaborative opportunities together. In the longer term, the workshop would hopefully establish formal academic communications among universities and research centers from UK and China, facilitate publications, and create various funding proposals.

If you are interested in participating in the workshop, please download the 'Call for Participants' document: Call for Participants: EWCN workshop 220517
