Law of Torts 103r

Dr Bela Chatterjee is the convenor of Law of Torts 103, a core course for Part 1 law students. The course covers elements of negligence, nuisance, defamation and trespass to the person.

Sexualities and the Law 302

Dr Bela Chatterjee is the designer and convenor of Sexualities and the Law 302. This is a third year half unit option for final year Law students. The course examines specific instances where sexualities have come under legal scrutiny, and examines sexualities and law in a wider social context. Dr Chatterjee was awarded a Sir Alistair Pilkington Prize (2006) for her work in developing this course to reflect best practice and focusing on promoting equality in the learning environment. This course along with Law 103 (formerly convened by Mr Sefton Bloxham) has been featured as a case study in the UKCLE study into best practice in VLE usage.

 

Intellectual Property 313

Dr Chatterjee teaches on Intellectual Property 313, which covers elements of the Intellectual Property Regime. It is a final year module available to final year Law Majors. Dr Chatterjee's lectures and seminars focus on Patent Law, which is taught from an historical perspective, from the 1300s to the present day. The course is convened by Dr. David Seymour.

 

Introduction to Law for Cyber Security Specialists 5230

This course is a specialist course for the Faculty of Science and Technology, contributing to the MSc Cyber Security programme.

Previous Courses

In previous years, Dr Chatterjee has contributed to the teaching on Jurisprudence 208, contributing lectures and seminars on the Jurisprudence of Cyberspace, and Queer Legal Theory. She taught on Law 103 Common Law, and convened it from 02-03. She convened Business Law 231 from 2001-3, and Intellectual Property 119, which covered aspects of cyberlaw and intellectual property at Masters level. Dr Chatterjee has also supervised a number of students taking Dissertation 212, supervised topics have included: Children who Kill, Interracial Adoption, Electronic Signatures and Biometrics, Celebrity Defamation, Gender and Law.

 

At Brunel University, Dr Chatterjee was a tutorial fellow on the Criminal Law Course, and contributed some lectures to the Gender State and Law course on the legal regulation of pornography. See Conference Papers page for her invited lectures at other institutions.

 

 

Professional Development Qualifications

CILTHE Stage 2

Dr Chatterjee has successfully completed the CILTHE (Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education) Stage 2 postgraduate course, covering aspects of teaching and learning in Higher Education.

(CILTHE is now known as CAP, Certificate in Academic Practice)
