How to Apply
If you wish to be considered for postgraduate study in the Physics Department, you should apply online.
Along with the completed application form, you will be required to provide the following supporting documentation:
- Two references
- Transcripts of previous higher education degrees or other courses that you have completed or for which you are currently studying. Please note, for transcripts in languages other than English, a certified English translation will be required
- Proof of English language competency if English is not your first language (IELTS is the recommended test).
- Personal statement - in this section you should include information on your research interests and experience, and if possible, the name of the supervisor you would like to work with.
Please note - the Physics Department does not require applicants to submit a research proposal. This is optional, but if any applicant would like further guidance on this issue, please contact the Postgraduate Co-ordinator.
Current Lancaster University students may use our Fast Track application route on the MyLancaster admissions portal; these applicants will not need to provide their Lancaster degree transcript and only need to provide the name of one referee.
For further information on the application process visit the main How to Apply page.
Those students whose first language is not English should refer to Lancaster University's information on English language requirements for postgraduate students.
Applicants with the English Language qualifications below stated levels may still be considered by the Department. For details please contact Departmental Postgraduate Co-ordinator at email@example.com
