Residential School Events
Lancaster University's Physics Department offers a number of residential events for A-level students.
Ogden Physics Residential “Preparing for Physics at University”
The Ogden Trust funds an initiative aimed at improving A-level students' personal skills and understanding of A2 Physics topics plus familiarise themselves with current Physics research. As part of this initiative, Lancaster University hosted its first annual residential course in December 2011.
The programme involves talks from academic staff, problem solving projects and experimental sessions in the physics laboratories plus social activities in the evening. Around 30 students from across Lancashire and Cumbria attend the event and we have an excellent balance of 45% female attendees. The event is supported by around 10 academics and 8 researchers. All students rated the residential as 4/5 or 5/5.
The Aspire in Physics summer school aims to provide you with a full insight into life at Lancaster University, balancing skills development and experience of undergraduate level study with social and leisure activities. The Summer School is also an ideal way to get ahead in your preparation for university applications. The summer school will run in July 2016 and we are currently finalising details for the event.
