I am Joe Gardiner, a Senior Teaching Associate and research student at Lancaster University as part of Security Lancaster under the supervision of Nicholas Race and Peter Garraghan, and externally Shishir Nagaraja.
I previously studied at the university of Birmingham, but moved along with my supervisor at the end of 2014.

While at Birmingham, I was also a senior teaching assistant, with my main responsibilities being the MSc/ICY Software Workshop Java module and Network Security. At Lancaster I am now a teaching assistant for the Security and Risk module.

During the academic year 2012-13, I was a Research Assistant to Dr Nagaraja. This culminated in a time spent at Microsoft Research India in Bangalore, where I undertook the position of Research Intern, under the supervision of Ranjita Bhagwan.

I am the founder and current co-organiser of the revised Ethical Hacking group at Lancaster University. In 2017 I organised the universities entry for the Inter-Ace and C2C hacking competitions in Cambridge.
I am a keen Ultimate Frisbee player. I occasionally play with the university team, but lately I am mainly associated with Birmingham Ultimate.
