Research Interests

I completed my PhD in Politics at the University of Adelaide in 1995. I was previously Head of the School of Politics and Public Policy, Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia and retain research affiliations with the Governance and Public Policy Research centre and the Key Centre for Ethics, Law, Justice and Governance. I have also held teaching and research posts at the University of Adelaide and Charles Sturt University and visiting fellowships at George Washington University, Virginia Tech and the University of Melbourne. I have been a Chief Investigator on four Australian Research Council (ARC) funded projects on community consultation and democratic practice; ethical governance in the public sector; E-democracy and, most recently, on regional governance. I am guest editor for a special edition of the International Journal of E Government Research (US); was the co editor of the Australian Journal of Public Administration (published by Blackwells) from 2002-2006; been a peer reviewer for ARC and ESRC research grant applications and for numerous national and international journals and publishers and an external PhD examiner for the University of Queensland and the University of New England. I have also been a regular consultant to a number of agencies of the Queensland State Government, Brisbane City Council, and the Institute of Public Administration Australia.
