All three subject areas of the Department of Politics, Philosophy and Religion are ranked #1 in the Northwest region of the UK in the 2016 Complete University Guide.

PPR is #1 for Research Impact, #2 for Research Environment and #3 for Research Overall in 2014 UK Research Excellence Framework

Research in the Department of Politics, Philosophy and Religion was ranked as #1 for Research Impact, #2 for Research Environment and #3 for Research Overallby the Theology and Religious Studies sub-panel of the 2014 UK Research Excellence Framework (REF).

The REF measures the quality of research conducted in universities and other higher education institutions in the UK against international standards of excellence.  87 per cent of the department's research impact was ranked as world-leading – the highest in the UK.
