My data suggest that in the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, the significant political fault lines were incongruent with those between religious denominations or institutions; rather, those from the same Orthodox Christian tradition were sharply divided by their political loyalties; Russian and Ukrainian Protestants fiercely argued over their political and national commitments; and Russian Pagans fought on both pro-Russian and pro-Ukrainian sides.
