Studying Psychology at Lancaster

Studying Psychology at Lancaster

We're proud of our teaching standards, innovative research and excellent facilities.  Our students love studying here, and move on to rewarding careers or further studies.

At Lancaster, we have a passion for exploring the workings of the mind and understanding human behaviour.

Inspiring Research

Our academics are active researchers at the forefront of psychological development, each with their own specialism and area of expertise.  These are the people who will be teaching you:  we firmly believe that excellent teaching and cutting edge research go hand in hand.

Flexible Learning

You can choose to study Psychology exclusively, or alongside another subject in a Combined Degree.  In 1st year, we teach you the fundamentals of psychology:  developmental psychology, brain and behaviour, cognitive psychology and social psychology, but as you work through your degree, we encourage you to explore topics of your own choice.

The topics that you will study are acknowledged by British Psychological Society as being eligible for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership accreditation, which is the first step to becoming a Chartered Psychologist.

Friendly Support

We are a friendly bunch!  Everyone is approachable and enthusiastic, which makes it a great learning environment.  We’re here to help you settle in to university life and enjoy your studies, and we’ll support you all the way.

Virtually all students display comprehensive, up-to-date knowledge of all aspects of the discipline, together with a range of key generic skills
