Arnside from Scout Scar

Roughly from the same angle as the previous engraving. Arnside Knot in the distance across the Kent Estuary. In the extreme distance on a clearer day, Morecambe Bay and Lancaster. The Lyth Valley and its watermeadows, previously an un-navigable moss (marsh), lie to the right. Land reclamation has also made the main coast road to Grange and beyond (the A590) possible.
It is unlikely however that Fox would have come up here merely to see the view. The drop is precipitous. We are told that humans rarely fall over, but dogs have been misled.
