Preston Patrick to Kendal

In this period, the main road north of Lancaster left the current A6 at Carnforth, and went across to Burton in Kendal, passing by Farleton and over the Peasey Beck at Crooklands by Peasey Bridge. After that it appears to have veered to the west, and gone past Sedgewick and through Natland, though the countryside is now so cut up with the canal, the railway, and the motorway that it is difficult to trace in places.

For further discussion of the route, see ‘Old Maps and Drawings’ and go to ‘Road Maps’.
