Agresso Costing and Pricing (ACP)

The Pre-award costing team is part of Research Services and plays a key role in supporting and advising academics in costing bids for funded research. All research bids must be costed and institutionally approved by the Pre-award team in ACP prior to being submitted to the funder.

Introduction

All externally funded projects must be approved and costed through ACP (Lancaster's costing tool) to calculate the full economic cost (fEC) of the project on a reliable and comprehensive basis. This cost is then used to set the price for a research project either according to funders rules e.g. Research Councils and European Commission or to inform the negotiation of the price with other funders e.g. industry.

Why is this important?

We cost grants so that we can make sure the funds we ask for from funders are accurate and reflect the true full cost of a project and there is no additional shortfall or unexpected costs to the University or the department. The costing team will provide advice on increments, pay awards, VAT and inflation.

To start the costing process please email RSO Submissions with the completed form below, or alternatively contact RSO Submissions and a member of the team will be in touch to discuss the next steps.

Calculation of the full economic cost

The fEC of a project is made up of directly incurred costs, directly allocated costs and indirect costs. The classification determines how they are recorded and validated.
