Lancaster’s 2020 strategy and associated People Strategy set out goals and priorities to conduct  excellent research within an environment which nurtures and cultivates its staff, encouraging them to fulfil their career ambitions.

Lancaster University is fully committed to the principles of the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers. Our vision is for a fully integrated research community within which our exemplary research staff are provided equally exemplary opportunities to contribute, develop and progress.

The Concordat Implementation Group is the body which promotes and champions the Concordat agenda and monitors the delivery of Lancaster’s action plan. Lancaster's commitment to the Concordat has received European recognition in the form of the prestigious HR Excellence in Research award, first awarded to the institution in 2011, retained in 2013 and again in 2016.

Lancaster’s Organisational and Educational Development (OED) team run a dedicated programme of researcher development activities.
