Research Overview

Ding Wang is a PhD candidate from HighWire Centre for Doctoral Training (CTD) in Lancaster University. Her PhD research is to explore the rhetoric and discourses concerning the notion of Smart Cities. Ding is also interested in how these rhetoric and discourses affect smart city research practices conducted by both academic institutions as well the industry research and development groups. Before joining HighWire CTD, Ding has background in both management science and design ethnography. She was previously involved in various socio-tech research projects mostly studying how people apply different technologies to their life and work in daily settings, especially how these technologies influence people’s lives individually and collectively.
