Pavel Emilov Todorov

Excellent reputation

After taking a gap year to pursue his hobbies and interests, as well as preparing for university, Pavel Todorov decided to study computer science at Lancaster University. His decision was greatly influenced by the University’s strong reputation, which is only set to grow further. “I chose this particular university because it is one of the most prestigious universities in the UK,” he says. “It gets higher in the ranking charts every year. It seems like a place that is always seeking opportunities for development and improvement, and a place where I want to develop too – emotionally, professionally and intellectually.”

A wide range of activities

Pavel has been involved in a number of extra-curricular activities during his time at university, and is also grateful for the opportunity to build on many of the skills that he learned during extra-curricular activities he had previously undertaken. “I have been involved in a number of international European projects such as ‘Juvenes Translators’, ‘Europa Secura’, ‘Euroscola’ and more,” he says. “I have also been a member of the Debates Club at school, and I have taken part in the ‘Global Entrepreneurship Week’ that my school was part of. It was great to be able to use the skills that I gained through these activities in university-based projects!”

Plans and advice

Having thoroughly enjoyed his time at Lancaster, Pavel is planning to pursue his passion for computer science by undertaking a Masters degree in the same subject. “I’ve really been impressed by the modern and forward-thinking character of Lancaster University, and the fact that its staff always seem to be looking toward the future,” he says. “I would advise prospective students to make the most of their stay here, and involve themselves in as many projects, clubs, societies, and friendships as they can. Work hard and play hard, because hard work pays off!”
