Profile

Jianqiao Ye is a Professor and the Chair of Mechanical Engineering at Lancaster University.

His research covers a broad range of both academic and industrial interests, including: optimization, metamodelling and DoE, failure and damage assessment and damage tolerance of fibre reinforced composites, progressive collapse, fire resistance of steel-concrete composite structures, cement and concrete carbonation, offshore oil and gas structures, large floating structures, multiscale modelling of fibre reinforced composites and biological tissues.

Jianqiao has collaborative research with a number of top research institutes around the world, such as NPL, Manchester University, Stanford University and Australian National University. His contributions to industrial applications of composite materials and structures are also internationally recognised. There is considerable interest in his work in several leading companies, including Airbus, QinetiQ, BAE Systems, Dunlop and ITASCA. He is currently a Principal Investigator of two EPSRC sponsored projects, respectively, on multiscale modelling of human atria during fibrillation and Multiphysics modelling and optimisation of Persistant Green Air Vehicles (PERGAVE) for an increased Energy Harvest (EH) capacity.

Jianqiao has published three books and over 160 referred papers in international journals and conferences proceedings. His papers have attracted over 2500 citations and a H-index of 30. He has been a regular reviewer, an editorial board member/editor of many international conferences and a number of refereed journals. He is also a member of the ASCE Stability Committee and an Industrial Advisor to the IMechE.
