Tuesday 22 March 2005, 1730-1900
InfoLab21 Seminar Room B69
Some analysts promote the connection of machines as bigger business than how people became connected by the mobile phone, with market saturation expected to be well beyond 2010. Who are the players and what is the technological state of the art that is available for us to take advantage of this?
Join us for cheese and wine at InfoLab21 and hear Dr David Lund, Technology Manager of HW Communications Ltd talk about this fascinating topic.
HW celebrated its 15 year anniversary in 2005 and has grown to become one of the leading advanced technology companies in the UK. Current technology interests include Machine Telematics, Telemedicine and Emergency Multimedia, Application Optimised Positioning Technologies, Harsh Communication Environment (Powerline) Modem design, ETSI Standardisation activity, Data and Protocol Security. HW has recently 'spun in' new company 'InoTek', of which David is also a Director overseeing Research and Product Development activity, into Infolab21.
David achieved his PhD with the Department of Communication Systems in 2001 related to reconfigurable communication systems, sponsored by HW. Prior to his PhD, he took a system approach as a design engineer with Texas Instruments involved from silicon design of digital signal processors to one of the first video conferencing application developments.
