Café Scientifique: Your Nitrogen Footprint
Dr Sarah Dale, Lancaster Environment Centre
Wednesday 05 June 2013, 1930-2030
The Robert Gillow, Lancaster
You are probably familiar with carbon footprinting - but did you know that you can calculate your nitrogen footprint too? Nitrogen is used for fertilising crops and this fertiliser takes energy to produce.
Sarah Dale was recently awarded a PhD from Lancaster University's Environment Centre for research on the role of nitrogen in the carbon cycle. She will be speaking about her work creating an online educational tool with Carly Stevens of Lancaster University and James Galloway at the University of Virginia, USA.
Café Scientifique is a place where, for the price of a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, anyone can come to explore the latest ideas in science and technology. It is an informal non-academic event and everyone is welcome.
There is a group in Lancaster which hosts a Café on the first Wednesday of each month at the Robert Gillow Pub in Lancaster.
