An intern is sought to undertake research into a range of developing environmental initiatives and represents an exciting opportunity to be involved in the significant growth of a dynamic environmental business. The successful candidate will gain sector knowledge and experience of working and networking with the business community in Lancaster Environment Centre. Tasks will centre on research as outlined below:
1. Research into alternative routes to landfill and techniques for waste minimisation to establish which companies are the solution providers to waste issues and what type of companies produce the waste. This will involve talking to companies to undertake qualitative research.
2. Research into consumable products and their associated carbon footprints including linked work around our ecommerce system.
3. Research into companies with whom Carbon Action Ltd would like to make contact, which will include initial contacts, sending out information to companies and generating interest in Carbon Action's offer.
This vacancy is for 420 hours part time work (up to six months) and can be fitted around your studies.
The vacancy is part-funded by Lancaster Environment Centre.
The internship would be ideal for LEC students and graduates but is open to students from all departments in the faculty.
A good understanding of environmental issues related to energy reduction and efficiency including government targets
Excellent research skills
Excellent verbal communication skills and an assured telephone manner
A good working knowledge of IT including Excel spread sheets
Excellent time management skills and the ability to work on one's own initiative
Confident, friendly and outgoing personality
Resilient, able to deal with setbacks and take on board constructive feedback
