Web Developer

This internship is part funded by Santander.

This internship is based around developing a mobile software platform to run on Android devices with an accompanying web interface that will be used to support Gaist’s road analysis division. The road analysis division operates teams of workers who manually inspect road and pavement conditions around the country. The software developed as part of this project will support these teams by providing mapping features on mobile devices that allow the workers to gather data in the field in the most effective manner possible. In addition, Gaist also have video inspection vehicles that gather video streams of road surface conditions. The video data from these vehicles will be combined with data captured in the field to provide users with an online representation of road conditions. This will allow users to inspect the data captured about any road and see streaming video footage of the location simply by accessing one dedicated website.

Project development will be based in the Gaist Infolab office in Lancaster. A full time developer based in Infolab also will work with the successful candidate. The output of the project will be a complete working system used by Gaist employees and in some instances by outside customers. The timescales for the project will be determined by the features that are implemented; there is no hard deadline at present. The intern will be expected to contribute towards the delivery of the solution to the best of their ability.

This is a three month internship part funded by banking group Santander.
