Exploring work-life transitions in a digital world: Students Wanted!
The Digital Brain Switch (DBS) research team is currently seeking students to take part in a video diary and interview study.
Students must be:
- aged 18 to 25
- UK nationals
- undergraduates or post-graduates
- with or without a paid job
The project is looking at how digital communication technologies influence our sense of work-life balance. Students will be lent a digital camcorder for a week to record a diary of their transitions between the different aspects of your life.
The central research questions to be explored in this project are: How do modern communications affect our ability to manage transitions across work-life boundaries? How can we intervene in this process in a way that people find supportive and useful?
Ming Ki Chong and Jon Whittle from Lancaster University are exploring these issues in collaboration with researchers from three other British Universities. The study combines elements from both the Social Sciences and Computing and is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).
