Making Professor Event
On 25th September 2012 Lancaster University will be holding its third Making Professor event, looking at academic promotion, career development and the benefits of flexible and inclusive working practices.
The event will be opened by Lancaster's Vice Chancellor, and will include invited internal and external speakers as well as break-out discussion sessions. It is part of the University's Athena SWAN (Charter for women in science, engineering and technology) Action Plan.
Making Professor is aimed at all academic and research staff on fixed-term or indefinite contracts, Heads of Department and everyone interested in equality and diversity in academic career development.

Professor Roger Jones has replaced Professor Peter Ratoff as Head of the Physics Department. Roger gained a PhD studying neutrino interactions at CERN and Fermilab before starting his career at CERN working at the Large Electron-Positron (LEP) Collider.
