Dr Andy Folkard
Dr Andy Folkard is a Senior Lecturer in the Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC), with research interests in environmental hydrodynamics, who works on processes in lakes, rivers and shallow coastal waters, and in particular on interactions between hydrodynamics and ecological and biogeochemical processes in these environments.
Andy teaches natural physical processes - particularly fluid processes - and quantitative skills at all levels of the undergraduate and masters curriculum and is the LEC Director of Studies for Postgraduate Research.
He was awarded the University’s Pilkington Prize for Teaching in 2003 and a National Teaching Fellowship in 2006, and has been involved in several teaching and learning development projects at departmental, Faculty, cross-campus and national level. These have been concerned primarily with quantitative and scientific literacy.
Andy has authored or co-authored several papers, conference proceedings, briefing papers and project reports on pedagogic research and textbook chapters for teaching purposes.
