Dr Jane Taylor
Jane Taylor is a Senior Lecturer in the Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC) and the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies in the Faculty of Science and Technology. Her research interests are concerned with the way in which plants interact with pests and pathogens, and in particular how we can utilise our plant biochemical knowledge to develop alternative pest control strategies that do not rely on pesticides.
Jane teaches courses that range in scale from the cellular to the whole organism. She was Director of Teaching in Biological Sciences for many years until she became Associate Dean. She has a wealth of teaching experience both at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and has been involved in University wide projects concerned with excellence in teaching, learning and assessment both in Lancaster and elsewhere.
Jane is passionate about plant science. As a tutor on the Gatsby Plants Summer School, tutoring with the Open University, and as a school governor, her outreach and extension activities aim to enthuse and excite others about the wonders of science.
