Dr Jim Wild

Jim is a lecturer in the Department of Communication Systems' Space Plasma Environment and Radio Science Group. His research interests include the investigation of the electromagnetic link between the Sun and the Earth that controls the space environment surrounding our planet and the hazards it poses to human technology.

Jim is also a passionate science communicator and in 2007 he was awarded a Lancaster University media and communications prize for outreach activities involving schools, societies, local business, the media and government.

Having previously served as the Department of Communication Systems' Part II Tutor, Jim is currently the MSc tutor and his teaching includes both undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses in media technology, satellite communications and modern communication methods.

Jim is also a fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, the learned society representing professional astronomers and geophysicists in the UK and was elected to the society's governing council in 2007.
