Medical Education

This research group performs research on theory and practice of medical education, in particular the role of e-learning, simulation and digital technologies, and how the social interactions between medical students influence their professional development.


Researchers working in this area, together with a short description of their research interests, are listed below.

  • Professor Anne Garden Quality assurance in medical education; also paediatric and adolescent gynaecology
  • Dr Fiona Curtis E-Learning, use of simulation and digital professionalism; also previously active in molecular genetics
  • Dr Karen Grant Evidence-based admissions procedures, application of learning theories, use of simulation and the teaching & assessment of professionalism; also previously active in molecular parasitology
  • Dr Rachel Isba Role of learning environments and the influence of social networks in medical professionalism; also public health research on infectious diseases and the role of paediatric public health in secondary care
