At the December 2011 degree ceremony, Chancellor Sir Chris Bonington presented student Lesley Crichton with the Princess Alexandra Medal. Lesley, the Professional Head of Occupational Therapy (Mental Health) with Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, completed the MA in Developing Professional Practice in Management and was awarded the medal in recognition of her exceptional performance in her studies.
One of Lesley's initial comments when embarking on the programme was "My concerns were around my own confidence, I realise that I have high expectations and I was worried that my work would not be good enough to pass" so when told of her fantastic achievement Lesley said she was "stunned into silence!" Lesley also says "The tutors have been amazing, incredible in fact – really supportive and flexible". To summarise her study she says "From a professional perspective, the course has encouraged me to widen my thinking and not just consider issues from one professions perspective and personally although the course has been challenging it has given me more confidence in my own abilities".
To add to her achievements Lesley has just been invited to present her work based project at the College of Occupational Therapy National Conference in June 2012.
