Fi is running Hardian's wall to raise money for our public involvement activities

You can sponsor Fi by registering as a donor with the University and marking that your donation is for the Spectrum Centre for Mental Health Research (under Mind & Body).

About the cause

At Spectrum we are very committed to involving service users in research and have some great ideas about how to do this. The problem is always finding money. We are prepared to go a very long way to make this happen. In fact, in May I am aiming to run 69 miles along Hadrian's Wall to try and raise money for our service user and carer involvement. I have badgered the University to agree to match fund what I can raise so if you can spare a couple of quid, then it's worth a lot to us.

Why am I running Hadrian's wall?

Well, it's currently the quickest and cheapest way for me to go and visit my folks in Newcastle (almost true!). Spectrum is all about developing ways to help people manage mental health problems. Running is how I (and many others) manage mood and stress and so it seemed fitting to promote this activity alongside service user involvement. You'll be able to follow the highs and lows on twitter @fionalobban from the 2-4th May and you can explore our website to find out more about what we do at Spectrum and how to get involved.
