Preparing you for the job market and helping you build a successful career is top of our agenda at Lancaster. We are committed to producing articulate, reflective and industrious graduates who have excellent subject knowledge, a broad range of transferable skills and an awareness of the needs of employers. Lancaster University's Personal Development Planner (LUPDP) is an on-line facility available to each undergraduate student. It is a private and confidential system which is designed and structured to encourage you to recognise, record, plan and assess the skills and experiences you gain, as you progress through your degree. By developing a greater sense of self-awareness, and accumulating evidence, it will be easier to compile effective CVs and application forms needed to inform your future academic and career choices.
We have access to excellent networks of large and small employers through projects, placements and guest lectures. Through Careers we provide an extensive range of services and activities to help you make informed decisions about your potential career choices. Provision includes one-to-one consultations, comprehensive web site and careers information resources, career development programmes and workshops to help you with the job application process, and providing training in recruitment and selection processes including psychometric aptitude testing.
Our postgraduate teaching programmes are designed to allow both full-time study and part-time flexible study options for busy professionals, with leading researchers in their fields conducting the teaching. Depending on the student's requirements, these programmes allow students access to expertise across Lancaster University, including the Lancaster University Management School. This teaching can range from one-off opportunities for continuing professional development, through flexible modular teaching programmes allowing students to focus on specific areas of interest, to Masters and Doctoral-level programmes allowing students to conduct research relevant to their own interests.
