Public Involvement: Getting Involved

Who can join LUPIN?

LUPIN is open to all, whether you have used a clinical psychology service yourself, or know someone who has, or if you just have an interest in increasing public involvement within clinical psychology training.

We welcome all people regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or ability. We actively promote diversity within LUPIN and aim to encourage trainees to think about diversity issues. Please see our diversity statement.

We also welcome representatives from other user involvement groups. We are always looking for new members, and guarantee a friendly welcome to new people at our meetings.

What are the benefits?

Please see and hear the stories of some of our members on the LUPIN members' stories page.

How much time does it take up? Do I have to come to everything?

Our meetings usually last 2-3 hours, and take place around 4 times a year. Meetings usually take place at Lancaster University.

People can be as involved as much as they want, attending meetings, being involved in interviews and teaching, or just remaining on our distribution list (email or postal) to receive information and updates on LUPIN. You can opt into events as and when you want.

I'm interested. How do I find out more information?

Please contact Jen Whitfield on 01524 594083 if you have any queries or would like further information about LUPIN, or email us on j.whitfield@lancaster.ac.uk. Within the course clinical team, LUPIN is coordinated by Suzanne Hodge, who you can email on s.hodge@lancaster.ac.uk.

Do you link up with other user involvement groups?

We want to make links with other local service user groups, and representatives of other groups are welcome at our meetings. We realise the potential of forming links with other groups and are happy to help publicise events you hold, and add links to your group to our web pages. For further details of how to link up with LUPIN please contact Jen.

Meeting Dates

We pay all participants travel expenses to attend meetings.

We aim to make LUPIN meetings as accessible as possible for everyone who wants to attend. If you have any specific requirements please do not hesitate to contact Jen to discuss them further.

See our events page for the date of the next meeting.

DClinPsy Insight

Being involved with LUPIN and Lancaster University has raised my self-esteem. It also gives me a way of sharing my experiences within the mental health system as a user survivor.(LUPIN Member)
